Mobile Poker[]

This web page is about mobile poker online. Online poker is usually played from a desktop or laptop computer, but over the past few years, internet poker sites have focused on crafting mobile poker apps and software that allows users to play poker using a mobile phone or tablet.

What is Mobile Poker?[]

In the earlier days of online poker, playing on a phone simply wasn't an option as players needed to utilize a full personal computer in order to run internet poker software. In 2023 now, this is no longer the case, as modern smartphones are far more capable than in prior years and can often perform as well as their desktop counterparts.

Due to these excellent technological progressions, mobile gambling and poker is only growing in popularity[1]. Almost every online casino, sportsbook, or poker room boasts a mobile app or at least supports play from a mobile phone device.

What to Look For in a Mobile Poker App?[]

Despite the excellent progression in technology, the overwhelming majority of professional poker players still utilize a desktop or laptop computer to play. The reason for this is that mobile poker software still has a number of limitations, like not being able to multi-table or play as many tables as you'd like.

Being able to play at more than one table is crucial to a serious poker player as the more tables you can play well, the more money there is to be won. Some mobile poker apps only allow users to play at a single table, or at least the player can only view one table at a time.

These options vary between poker rooms and sites, but sometimes, mobile poker sites offer an especially narrow selection of games. The best mobile poker options allow users to play the full array of cash games, multi-table tournaments, and sit-and-goes available on a desktop computer, but some applications are limited to only allow a select few game types.

Additionally, most desktop poker applications allow users to utilize features like hand histories, hotkeys, and table customization. The majority of mobile poker apps and sites still offer plenty of customization and detailed hand histories, but not all do.

Online Poker Sites Offering Mobile Poker[]

When it comes to mobile poker options for players in the United States, there are a number of poker rooms that offer mobile compatibility. Below, we have included a list of online poker rooms that feature mobile poker support or a dedicated mobile application along with a link to a review covering each room in more detail.

Examples of Online Poker Apps and Sites[]

The poker sites included in the list above all offer mobile internet poker to US players. Each of these sites has its own unique pros and cons which we won't delve into too much here, so if you'd like more information on a specific room, please feel free to utilize the list included above.

With the popularity of mobile gambling on the rise, it is inevitable that most poker sites will offer mobile support or software. While it would be ideal if all of the mobile apps and sites were excellent, in reality, not all are created equal.

Bovada, Ignition, BetOnline, SB Poker, and CoinPoker offer full-featured mobile poker software while Americas Cardroom, Black Chip Poker, and Everygame only offer limited mobile support. At Americas Cardroom and Black Chip Poker, only a select few game types are available to play using a mobile device. At Everygame, multi-table gameplay using a mobile system is quite difficult.

There are many small differences between each of the mobile poker applications, so let's take a look at how a few mobile poker apps operate and the features offered at each site. CoinPoker, a crypto only poker site, offers an excellent dedicated phone application for iOS and Android users.

CoinPoker features a strong mobile poker app that offers all of the same games and benefits that are available through the desktop client. Mobile players at CoinPoker will have almost the exact same experience as if they were utilizing a desktop computer. One other unique aspect of mobile play at CoinPoker is that it will always use a portrait orientation.[2] Portrait orientation, as opposed to landscape orientation, has grown in popularity with the advent of "social" poker apps including PPPoker and Poker Bros.

Another two popular US poker sites are SB Poker and BetOnline, two sites that offer a full-featured mobile application. At SB Poker and BetOnline, two sister sites that operate as members of the Chico Poker Network, players can access the full array of cash games, tournaments, and sit-and-goes available on a desktop machine. Unlike at CoinPoker, you'll be able to play with landscape orientation.

One other consideration for mobile poker players is game selection. When deciding to play on a mobile phone, the way that the lobby is organized may be a lot different. Often, the mobile version of a poker room lobby is a bit more basic. Instead of displaying the entire poker lobby like on a desktop, you may see a simplified menu that will ask you to select parameters of the game you'd like to play.

This means that players may have fewer options when deciding on a poker game to play. Additionally, players may not be able to review all of the other available games to make the appropriate selection. Usually, you'll still have the full breadth of games available, you just may need to adjust the way that you locate your preferred game.
